Equinox

A complex piece, representing survival over misfortune. The title derives from a combination of “equus" (horse) and “nox” (misfortune/noxious). The combination produces “nightmare.” Along with rock incorporation, the highly polished basalt base has been carved to represent the distorted head of a horse in pain. The red, Persian Travertine marble cap, represents an eruption of blood. The Utah lava plume defines the extent of the pain, but the Rosa Laguna capstone bird confirms that everything works out okay, with time, and patience. All components turn, except for the heavy, basalt base.
