Hummingbird Falls Fountain
During the construction of other fountains, I noticed that, while the neighborhood birds enjoyed bathing, some also liked taking showers; in other words, some local birds, especially hummingbirds, seemed to enjoy the opportunity to hover under falling water. So, I constructed this fountain with two “shower” fixtures on top, under the two, stained-glass and brass faucets, and a basin for the birds to bathe in. I also provided three, lower “porthole” shower locations for their amusement. Hummingbirds fly through the portholes, showering on their way through to the other side, like an automobile going through a car wash. Sometimes, birds will bath simultaneously on top under the falling water of the faucet fixtures, while a third showers in the porthole below. A hand-made copper basin at the bottom provides a comfortable shelter for water plants.
