I’m Perfect Bowl
Another favorite of mine, the title, I’m Perfect Bowl, is a play on words. This piece originally began life as a 280 lb. block of stunning “Picasso” marble, so-named by workers at a quarry located between Beaver and Milford, Utah. The name of the stone was probably chosen because of the riotous colors, and Jackson Pollock patterns created by cataclysmic, pre-historic geologic events. It’s as though the cosmic kitchen-meister mixed and baked a concoction of chocolate, cocoa, carmel, nougat, and licorice. But, why the title of the piece? This bowl was devilish to complete: it would not cooperate. The stone would break, refuse to accept bridle or bit, and resist any efforts at symmetry. So, I conceded and cooperated with it! After a lot of teamwork, the finished piece turned out to be a very simple, clean, and attractive statement. Initially riddled with imperfections, and insecurity, the bowl became, “I’m Perfect.”
